Hope is a Dream that Never Sleeps

Someday our voices calling out will become a great song.

When I was in seventh grade, my teacher and a teacher from Japan started a classroom friendship program. Everyone in my class was matched up with a Japanese pen pal. Mine was named Mari. We would write a letters, give it to our teacher, and she would send them all to Japan together. Then they would (assumably) do the same from that side.
We exchanged addresses and kept writing to each other after that year, but for some reason, the correspondance stopped. I keep thinking about it, but I can’t remember why that happened. :/
I wish it hadn’t - I miss her! I wonder what she’s doing now. There are so many things I wish I hadn’t taken advantage of as a kid. I didn’t appreciate them because I never understood how precious they were.
I’m just glad that I realize it now with enough time to try again - this time being able to fully appreciate what I have.

  • Her: and you showed me something obscene and scandalous

Apparently Pooja sends texts from the future.

Also, I’m really, really sad that she’s going back on Monday :( Hanging out with her has basically been a daily routine these past few weeks that she’s been back here on break. Ahhh it’s going to be so lonely when she’s back at school ;______;

It’s okay, though, because she graduates soon, and we’ll still have time before I leave. ^^

Thank you for what you said yesterday. You know who you are. I honestly think you have more faith in my writing than I even do. It really means a lot to hear you say it with such conviction - I don’t think I can stress that enough. I want you to know that you are also going to go somewhere. You don’t want to be average and you won’t be - you already are not. You are definitely going to get to where you want to be. I hope you know that ♥

Google+ Hangout…oh, how I love thee.

However, sometimes it’s nice to see tangible proof. It’s nice to have something that makes you 100% certain.

Yesterday was the most amazing day. It was the birthday of one of my dearest friends, and for this, her parents drove Pooja, Aditi, and I to Berkeley to celebrate with their family.

It was so much fun. I can’t even describe it - especially since what we did seems very ordinary (and here I am NOT insinuating that ordinary is bad, just stressing that we didn’t do anything unusual). We saw the Rose Garden at Berkeley, which was incredibly lovely (and took about five million pictures while we were at it), and then we went to Elephant Bar for dinner.

Your company definitely makes your experience. It is because of these girls I was with that it was so incredibly perfect and memorable (and I sincerely hope the birthday girl felt the same way).

It makes me happy how often I’ve seen Pooja this summer, since in the past we haven’t had the chance to hang out this much. It’s sad that I can’t see Chicky and Tuku as often - seeing them yesterday made me realize how much I miss them.

I also realized how much I love these intertwining connections of ours and our absolute willingness to take care of each other. It’s partially the Marathi connection, but partially also just the extent of our friendship - that’s why we’re more than happy for Pooja to come over every evening and eat dinner with us (and even crash there if she wants). That’s why we went up to Berkeley for Chicky’s birthday. That’s why Pooja and Chicky each introduced me to a friend who is going to be teaching abroad in South Korea - and why Tuku is going to introduce me to a friend who is studying abroad for a year in South Korea.

There’s no need to see proof of friendship like this. But sometimes seeing it is comforting.

솔비야 - 만나서 반갑숩니다  ^^
I honestly can’t believe how quickly time flies. 시간이 없어 :( It seems like we were just meeting at UTC for the first time and deciding to move into the food court because it was chilly outside. How have these weeks passed with us meeting bi-weekly and discussing Korean celebrities (and to a degree, the language too hehehe)?
재미 있었어. I had so much having random conversations with you, learning Korean words and phrases, talking about Korean things and non-Korean things, sharing videos on iPhone and your iPod, having the fortune of being at UTC the day Ben & Jerry’s was giving out free ice cream.
I hope you had a great time while in the U.S. I can’t believe that was our last meeting here. It’s crazy how you can know someone for a short time and become such good friends.
고마워~ Thank you for this:

I love it so much. And OMG those are the absolute cutest pens I’ve seen in my entire life. I named them. Although I won’t write their names here, I think anyone who knows me well enough can guess what they are :P
I’m going to let you know AS SOON AS I have my flight booked. The next time we meet, it’ll be in Korea. Let me know how your trip to Seattle, Mount Rushmore, and El Paso goes. I hope you enjoy the rest of your stay here.
잘가~
